Kuujjuaq: An Investment in Community Development

Makivik Corporation is a political organization that represents the Inuit of Northern Quebec. Although Makivik had not previously worked in food production; they saw The Growcer as an opportunity to spark economic growth in Nunavik’s largest community, Kuujjuaq.

 Since its installment in Spring 2018, the system has provided the residents of Kuujjuaq with access to healthy and affordable produce options year-round. Additionally, the proven commercial viability of the system has captured the attention of Inuit communities across Nunavik who are eager to start their own profitable businesses in smart farming.
