Sales Representative

The Sales Representative is the first point of contact between The Growcer and prospective customers, and is responsible for helping grow the number of communities and organizations using The Growcer systems. The role also involves establishing inbound sales processes, and helping customers determine their specific circumstances to customize a system built to their needs. A successful Sales Representative should expect to lead The Growcer’s growth across Nunavut, and into other territories and remote communities in provinces, as well as into the industrial and natural resources markets. The Sales Representative is expected to work from The Growcer’s Ottawa office, and be willing to travel to the Arctic during system deployment for 2 weeks at a time.

What You'll Do

  • Identify and attend key regional and industry trade shows
  • Identify and contact communities and industrial/natural resources companies that could stand to benefit from Growcer systems, and develop a process to qualify leads and accelerate the sales cycle
  • Validate key assumptions about the value propositions for the industrial customer market by building relationships with key buying influencers and being willing to understand their needs
  • Develop inbound and outbound sales processes, including targeted sales emails, cold-calling, website lead generation
  • Develop relationships with funders and economic development agencies in priority regions to system purchases
  • Showcase / demonstrate The Growcer system in-person to potential retail and other customers at our Ottawa system location

What You Have

  • Excellent ability to build relationships and address customer issues or concerns
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage own priorities; self-starter attitude and willingness to meet sales targets are a must
  • Comfortable with computers, smartphones and online / mobile websites and Apps
  • Collegial or University diploma in agriculture, sales, or entrepreneurship-related subject
  • Work experience in the food sector or indigenous/northern communities, and/or a background in the food sector
  • Ideally, French/English bilingual. Fluency in Inuktitut or other widely-spoken Indigenous language an asset but not required
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and ideally, access to a car
  • Ideally, 2-3 years of successful sales experience in the food sector (not required)
