Business Development Associate

As Business Development Associate, you will work on identifying opportunities for The Growcer to expand in northern communities while locating funding opportunities to finance these projects. A successful Associate will engage and work with community leaders/organizations and to determine how the Growcer can benefit them. In this role, you will have a significant impact on the growth of The Growcer, through customer acquisition, locating funding opportunities, and scaling current programs. This is a full time position in our Iqaluit or Ottawa office, with flexibility for remote work.

 

What You'll Do

  • Develop relationships with community leaders and identify potential partnerships with The Growcer
  • Build strong relationships with local funders, government agencies, and stake holders with the goal of identifying funding opportunities
  • Identifying the financial needs of new projects with the Sales team, and connecting prospective customers with funding opportunities; including making introductions, supporting their applications, and ultimately ensuring customers secure the resources they need to start a Growcer project
  • Identify and organize opportunities to locally promote The Growcer
  • Locate and expand on growth opportunities for The Growcer in northern and Indigenous communities
  • Understand and effectively communicate The Growcer proposition and target messaging
  • Conduct research to identify new funding opportunities
  • Maintain relationships and acting as a contact for current stakeholders
  • Arrange business meetings with prospective funders, strategic partners, and industry groups
  •  Effectively communicate progress updates to Ottawa team  
  •  Identify opportunities to represent The Growcer in industry and regional tradeshows

 

What You Have

  • Excellent ability to build relationships and address customer issues and concerns
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage own priorities
  • Proficiency in English
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong community connections and a willingness to reach out and build on them
  • Excellent work ethic
  •  Background in project management/business development or similar role in private sector or government agency; northern experience is an asset
  • Experience writing grants and locating funding

 

Bonus Points

  • College or University diploma in commerce or related subject
  • Basic knowledge/understanding of Inuktitut or other Indigenous language
